Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency was established based on Presidential Regulation Number 199 of 2024 concerning the Ministry of Creative Economy, and Presidential Regulation Number 200 of 2024 concerning the Creative Economy Agency.

The Ministry of Creative Economy is a ministry that carries out governmental sub-affairs in the field of creative economy, which fall under the scope of governmental affairs in the tourism sector.

The Ministry of Creative Economy is tasked with administering the creative economy sub-sector, which is part of the governmental affairs in the field of tourism, to assist the President in administering state governance.

The Ministry of Creative Economy carries out the following functions:

1. Formulation and establishment of policies in the field of creative economy;
2. Coordination and synchronization of policy implementation in the field of creative economy;
3. Coordination of duties, guidance, and administrative support to all organizational units within the Ministry;
4. Management of state-owned assets under the Ministry’s responsibility;
5. Supervision of task implementation within the Ministry; and
6. Execution of other functions assigned by the President.

Creative Economy Agency, hereinafter referred to as Bekraf, is a Non-Ministerial Government Institution that carries out governmental duties in the field of creative economy. Bekraf is under and responsible to the President.

Bekraf carries out governmental duties in the field of creative economy based on the provisions of laws and regulations.

Bekraf carries out the following functions:

1. Formulation and establishment of technical policies in the fields of strategic development of the creative economy, cultural and design creativity, digital and technological creativity, and media creativity;
2. Implementation of technical policies in the fields of strategic development of the creative economy, cultural and design creativity, digital and technological creativity, and media creativity;
3. Coordination and synchronization of technical policy implementation in those fields;
4. Development of norms, standards, procedures, and criteria in the aforementioned areas;
5. Implementation of technical guidance and supervision in those fields;
6. Coordination of duties, guidance, and provision of administrative support to all organizational units within Bekraf;
7. Management of state-owned assets under Bekraf’s responsibility;
8. Supervision of task implementation within Bekraf; and
9. Provision of substantive support to all organizational units within Bekraf.
